The big bad beer blind taste experiment

The candidates:

Miller Lite
Budweiser
Pabst Blue Ribbon
Rolling Rock
Amstel Light
Natural Light
MGD
Milwaukee's "Best"

Three blind tasters. Random draw to determine order of seeds. Best out of three. Complete consolation rounds to get full rankings.

Mix up the order in which you present the beers to the individuals. This wouldn't be a double-blind experiment, simply because that's too much work. Me handing 4 oz. of PBR to Will Singer isn't going to sway him at all. (Or ... will it?) The only thing we would possibly do is not tell the participants what beers were involved.

Also, every beer must be served at the same temperature. Perhaps 36 hours in the same refrigerator. And every 4 oz. pour must be made at the same interval from refrigerator removal. Am I forgetting anything?

Comments:
Looks scientifically solid to me (I took some AP classes in high school)

To wash the taste of all but the pabst (and Nattie Light and Beast, you sweet sweet necta of the gods) out of your mouth try some good beer.

Check our beer review page. My friend John drinks a lot:

Can't have Budweiser, MGD and Miller Lite without also having Bud Light.
Or alternately - drop Budweiser and MGD, add Bud Light and, say, Schaffer's. This is what I'd actually prefer.

In case anyone isn't following me, what I'm proposing is that there be consistency in comparison of a company's line to another company's line (i.e., not having two Miller and only one Bud product).

Well, it depends, Mr. K-D...there are many cheap and tasty beers that have been left off this list. Presumably there has been some kind of screening round to which we were not privy, and the Bud has been knocked off the table, so to speak? If so, it need not be included here, provided that there were uniform selection criteria.

Two questions:
1) Where the hell is the Rainier?
2) Why the ironic quotation marks on the MB?

well then, the only question left is the when and the where. my september's looking pretty wide open.

-nachie, bringing down the level of any conversation from politics to beer. it's a talent.

There is no Rainier because we are only using nationally distributed shitty beers.

Martin Jones would tell me the quotes around MB are 'scare quotes' ... to be used when you don't really consider the phrase quoted to be accurate (among other uses). In this instance, I don't believe the product labeled 'Milwaukee's Best' is actually the best beer from Milwaukee. And then you use single quotes (e.g., above) when you are actually quoting something. Those wacky Brits...

As Degnan noted, the national distribution is a key. The reason to knock Bud off (along with MGD) is to have a playing field of equivalent products - thus, have Bud Light and Miller Lite face off.

And as far as national distribution goes, this is a pretty comprehensive list, though I suppose if you wanted one more entrant of the "people pay too much for this beer and really it's not very good and this will prove it" ilk, Corona could be added.

But I think there's pretty widespread agreement on this one, already.

Corona is fucking awful. People who drink it must think (a) otherwise, (b) they are cool, or (c) they are somehow drinking authentic Mexican beer. Or some combination of the above. People! Corona is like Mexican Budweiser, basically.

I'd like to see a cheap ICE beer taste-test. Every ice beer I've had already tastes like distilled ass-sweat, I wonder if you can even quantify there suckiness in relation to eachother. And maybe some test to see what beers taste the best while booting, that's the type of shit the 'mainstream media' is too afraid to get into. fuckers

if corona tastes like mexican budweiser, then i'll take a mexican pbr--tecate-- any day. also you can put them in the freezer, whereas if you were drinking refrezeniated (look it up, saucebox) corona, you might just end up with glass ejaculate in your cornea.
